Our goal at ABC is to provide a safe place where the Black community can interact, collaborate and exchange ideas focused on mentorship and empowerment. Key to this strategy is developing programs that celebrate and affirm Black advancements and contributions to Canada.
The Aurora Black Caucus is a group of like minded individuals committed to sharing and celebrating our African Heritage - the cultures that form the foundation of our collective history.
We will Stand Together to ensure racialized communities do not relive the atrocities of their past. Achieving this requires building stronger more connected communities where our youth understand their history and inherit better tools for future success and opportunities.
The ABC is comprised of Aurora residents but encourages input from the global community.
Our intention is to work with leaders in politics, education and business in order to ensure that people of African ancestry never relive the atrocities of the past. Additionally, we intend to be a community that is strong and connected; where Black youth are connected to their past while firmly stepping into their future, and where the town of Aurora and environs are welcoming and supportive.
I know that being the Chair of this outstanding group of community leaders is indeed an honor as we continue to push African Heritage legacy forward. Our board is committed to building community engagement in concert with policy makers to achieve great things on behalf of the Black community. We understand that we must provide a voice for Afro Canadians and communities of color across York Region. Thank you for your continued support, guidance, knowledge and wisdom.
